LYLE KAM LIGHTS UP LONGBOAT HALL AT THE RE:COLLECTIONS SHOW
BY BRENESSA ROACH | JULY 1, 2025
On June 30, 2025, Canadian indie-pop singer Lyle Kam performed at Longboat Hall in Toronto for the re:collections show, following the release of his latest album, re:collections. The night opened with performances by Toronto artists Ley Vara and Lauryn Kovacs, who each played individual sets before joining forces as their duo project, “frank.”
Ley Vara started the night off with a heartfelt set from her latest EP, did u even like me?, including “plants”, “strike”, “cinta ku,” and our personal favourite “did u even like me?”. Accompanied by Cole Misola on guitar, Ley also surprised the crowd with a stunning cover of Miley Cyrus’s “The Climb”. It was our first time seeing her live, and we were in awe of both her vocals and her captivating stage presence.

Following Ley’s beautiful set, Lauryn Kovacs took the stage with a stripped-down acoustic performance, playing songs like “subside’,” a few unreleased tracks, and her most popular track “now that we’re falling apart.” We only started listening to Lauryn in late November, so this was also our first time seeing her live — and we instantly fell in love with her vibe and stunning vocals.

At the end of Lauryn’s set, Ley came back out to perform as their duo project “frank.” They performed a few songs including “i hope you’re happy soon”, “poor thing” and “blue lace”—which is a song we really enjoyed.
Lyle Kam came on around 9:30PM, accompanied by Michael Friedman on drums. He opened with “rush”, followed by “mutual” and his most popular track, “unlove”, which is a crowd favourite. Lyle performed several songs from his latest EP, re:collections, which this show was in support of. He also brought out his loop pedal for a heartfelt cover of Ed Sheeran’s “Give Me Love,.”
Lyle surprised the fans with an unreleased track, and later delivered an unplugged version of “isn’t it funny”, performed in the middle of the crowd, making it such an intimate performance. Near the end of the show, Lyle invited a fan onstage for a Beybalde battle. The fan won, and Lyle gifted her a pack of Pokémon cards, sparking laughter and cheers from the audience. He ended the night performing another fan favourite, “all we do is talk.”
We last saw Lyle Kam perform at The Drake Underground, and since then, his stage presence and performance have only grown stronger. We can’t wait to catch him live again soon.
A huge thank you to Lyle Kam for providing us with a media pass for this special night.
