MONTHLY MIXTAPE: AUGUST 2025
BY BRENESSA ROACH | AUGUST 31, 2025

How is August already over? We can’t believe how quickly summer flew by! While we’re sad to see the season end, we’re holding onto the memories with 12 incredible songs that carried us through the month and that we’ll definitely keep spinning all year long.
Let’s get started…

Release Date: August 20, 2025
“Sweet Release” is one of the tracks on JUNNY’s latest album null which is a no-skip album. Although we loved every single song on the album, “Sweet Release” is the one that made it into our top 10 this month and also was constantly stuck n our head. We love the production and lyrics of this song and hearing JUNNY’s musical evolution through it.

“Ghost Girl” is a solo song by Yeonjun and included in TOMORROW X TOGETHER’s latest album *The Star Chapter: TOGETHER.* The whole album is a no-skip, but we really loved this song and not just because Yeonjun is our bias. The production, lyrics and Yeonjun’s vocals make this song so catchy and we could not stop replaying it.

“WANTCHU” is such an amazing song by keshi. We were waiting patiently for this song since he started teasing it and we were so glad it came out shortly after we saw him in concert in Toronto. This song is so catchy, yet calming and we love keshi’s voice (as usual).

This is a song we have been listening to since around 2007 when we got into My Chemical Romance. It’s our second favourite song from their discography and it became one of our top songs this month because we had the amazing opportunity to hear it live at their Toronto concert. It was so surreal to be able to see the boys perform this song. The PCD (post-concert depression) is terrible and we are waiting for the moment to see them again.

Rhea Raj is a singer we have been following since 2023 when we featured her before she got even more popular. “Mumbai” was released as a pre-release track to her latest EP *COMMOTION,* which we absolutely loved. This song is just so beautiful, fun, a girl boss anthem and we love how she embraces her culture through her music.

This is a song we have been listening to since May and found ourselves listening to it the most this month. The intro reminds us of The Weeknd with the guitar, synth and drum beat, but then the rest of the song has this indie vibe to it. akilamae has such warm vocals and with the almost-dark feeling production, it’s such an amazing contrast.

“Hate to Love” served as a pre-release track for Jackson’s latest album MAGICMAN2 which released on July 18. This song is by-far our top song on the album because of the retro production with the synths and bass. We also love Jackson’s style of singing on this song, we found it to be different from his previous songs and this one just was the perfect chill, summer song.

“I Can’t Lose” became a top song this month because Jonas Brothers released their new album *Greetings From Your Hometown (Deluxe Edition),* which this song is on. We loved the album as a whole, especially this song which is why we got last minute tickets to see the boys at their concert in Toronto. Post concert, we have been streaming this song so much. It’s such a perfect summer song.

We honestly cannot explain how much we love this song. It feels so nostalgic to us and it reminds us of the songs One Direction used to make. We absolutely love Calum and have been a fan of him since the beginning of 5 Seconds of Summer, so we knew his solo music would hit just as much. “Sunsetter” is a track on his debut album ORDER chaos ORDER which released on June 13.

This song is one on I’MIN’s latest EP Unplugged and our favourite track on it. The production of this song is way too good, mixed with I’MIN’s upbeat vocal style, it’s just beautiful. In a way, this song reminded us of old Jonas Brother songs and we absolutely were living for it. I’MIN is an artist we have been following for years and it’s amazing to see how versatile he is with his musical styles.

“SOAK IN BLUE” is the last track on pH-1’s new album *WHAT HAVE WE DONE* and is his slowest track on the album. Usually pH-1’s music is very rap and hip-hop heavy (which we also love), but this song falls right in our favourite style of music. It’s synth and R&B heavy, with slow and kind of melancholic lyrics and we just love it so much. The lyrics and pH-1’s vocals really complete this song.

If you have been following us for a while, you will know that we really love BNZA’s music and how he is able to make music in different styles and still nail it. “SOMETHING ABOUT YOU” is one of our new favourite songs from BNZA because of it’s dreamy, indie-Rock/R&B style. It gives us the same feeling we had when we listened to his song “HISTORY” and it’s a beautiful feeling. The cover art is also so beautiful and goes with the dreamy aesthetic and cozy feeling.
