ASH ISLAND PERFORMS IN TORONTO FOR THE FIRST TIME FOR “Voice Memo: Black Rose” TOUR
BY BRENESSA ROACH | SEPTEMBER 19, 2025
On September 14, 2025, South Korean rapper and singer ASH ISLAND brought his Voice Memo: Black Rose Tour to Toronto for the very first time, performing at Annabel’s. The show was presented by Forbidden City, Electric Escape, and Tempo Flow Entertainment.
ASH ISLAND debuted on November 12, 2018, with his single “How R U,” and has since built a devoted fanbase across Asia and, increasingly, worldwide. This tour follows the release of his album *Voice Memo,* with Toronto serving as the seventh stop on the eight-city run.
The night kicked off at 8:00 PM with “Drop Top” featuring The Quiett, from his 2023 album ROSE. Fans were treated to a setlist packed with favourites, including “OST” featuring his wife CHANMINA, “MELODY,” and our personal favourites “Ghost of You” and “I don’t wanna be your hero.”
His versatility shone throughout the set from the emotional depth of “OST,” to the high-energy of “It’s Okay” with ZICO, to rap-heavy tracks like “Grand Prix” featuring Beenzino. His stage presence was amazing at one point, he climbed into the barricade to connect directly with fans, even passing the mic to one lucky audience member.
His style also made an impression on us with his sparkling suits that elevated his performance. It was an incredible show, and we can’t wait for ASH ISLAND to return to Toronto.
Special thanks to Forbidden City and Electric Escape for coordinating the media access.
