Welcome back to our “Beyond The Beat Spotlight” series! This month, we’re featuring LA-based producer Deryk Mitchell, better known as Sleep Deez—a multi-platinum, Grammy-nominated producer with credits on tracks for Rihanna, BTS, Black Eyed Peas, Gucci Mane, and more.

Sleep Deez has been producing since 2005, but he first caught our attention in 2020 when he produced and co-wrote “My Time”—Jungkook’s solo track on BTS’ record-breaking album MAP OF THE SOUL: 7.

His versatility across genres and styles is undeniable. We chose to spotlight Sleep Deez this month after seeing him actively support j-hope’s latest singles on Twitter and even meet with ARMY (BTS’ dedicated fanbase) in Chicago. This feature also comes at the perfect time—Sleep Deez was recently announced as the second mentor for SoundEscape, a music production retreat happening in Miami from April 27-30.

It’s inspiring to witness his continued impact on the industry, and we can’t wait to see what’s next!
