MICO LIGHTS UP TORONTO WITH A SOLD-OUT HOMETOWN SHOW
BY BRENESSA ROACH | NOVEMBER 21, 2024
On November 20, 2024, Filipino-Canadian artist MICO performed at The Opera House in his hometown Toronto for his sold-out out show as part of his “Cancel your plans tour”. American Indie artist Haiden Henderson accompanied MICO for this show as an opening act.
The show kicked off at 8:00 PM with Haiden Henderson electrifying the stage, opening with his hit song, “Sorry to Your Next Ex”. This track, which has amassed over 17.4 million streams since its 2022 release on his album Good Grief!, set the tone for an unforgettable night. He followed it up with another track from the album, “DUMP HIM”.
Haiden delivered such a high energy set, going back and forth on stage, jumping into the crowd, and engaging with fans at every turn. He serenaded a fan named Bella and even serenaded one of the media crew members. Haiden surprised us with a cover of the Jonas Brothers’ classic “Burnin’ Up”.
The setlist featured fan favourites like “K.O.”, “broken in”, “good side”–our new favourite song, and “Pretty Little Addict”. He also performed his latest single “sweat” which was featured in our October monthly mixtape article. During “bleachers”, the audience joined in a lively sing-along to the “na na na” chorus, creating a truly unforgettable moment. Haiden closed the night on a high with his energetic track, “hell of a good time”.
Haiden Henderson’s incredible stamina and high energy left us with such an amazing performance. We hope Toronto left a lasting impression on him–because we can’t wait for him to come back!

MICO made an unforgettable entrance, riding his bicycle onto the stage as his band performed the intro to “TV”. His set design was cozy and utterly charming, featuring two retro televisions, a desk, and a “bed” with plushies that served as the drum platform. It was easily one of the most creative and heartwarming stage setups we’ve seen, as its so rare for us to see set designs these days.
Following his opening song, MICO performed the entirety of his latest EP *Internet hometown hero.* It was such a special night because MICO was performing all of his solo songs so everyone got to hear their favourites. Our favourite performances included “Senses” from the new EP and “twenty-something” from the afterparty EP. Hearing the latter brought back memories of MICO’s birthday hometown show last December.
MICO also delighted fans with tracks like “love her more,” “who do you love,” and a couple songs from his EPs second thoughts and the tears we fight. For his encore, he performed “treat your friends,” “deserve this,” and ended the night off with another fan-favourite, “cut my hair”.
The surprises didn’t stop there—midway through the show, Haiden Henderson returned to the stage to join MICO in performing Travis Scott and Playboi Carti’s “FE!N.” MICO further turned up the energy by jumping into the crowd to create a mosh pit. Another unexpected treat was his cover of Sabrina Carpenter’s “Taste”, which led to Alex Porat joining him as a special guest. As big fans of Alex, we were thrilled to see her back on stage, making the night even more memorable.
MICO’s connection with the audience was incredible, and it’s clear he keeps raising the bar every time we see him. This show was so outstanding, and the post-concert depression is hitting hard today. We can’t wait for what’s next!
Special thanks to MICO for giving us the chance to photograph and cover this amazing event.
