MONTHLY MIXTAPE: SEPTEMBER 2025
BY BRENESSA ROACH | SEPTEMBER 30, 2025

September was an incredible streaming month for us! It felt like being 12 again, thanks to the new releases from ZAYN, JADE, and Perrie, plus our obsession with Michael Clifford’s debut album. This month, we’ve got 14 standout tracks to share with you.
Let’s get started…

Release Date: July 20, 2025
Although this track was released back in July and has been on our radar since then, we couldn’t stop replaying it this month, so much so that it became our top song of the month. It’s irresistibly catchy, and the blend of Someone Else’s Rain with eldon’s vocals is just perfect.

“take me for granted” is a track from 0WAVE’s latest EP, corny plots. Though this album has no-skips, we found ourselves replaying this song so much. It’s definitely one of our new favourites in 0WAVE’s discography. We love the rock production, powerful vocals, and how energetic this song is overall.

“Break Free” is ZAYN’s collaboration with Borderlands Music for the launch of Borderlands® 4. Having a new release from ZAYN in itself is just the best thing ever, but having a song that sounds so much like the music he made with One Direction is the cherry on top. This song is literally giving the vibes of “Girl Almighty”, but with a fresh twist.

“Cool” is our most-played track from Michael Clifford’s debut album SIDEQUEST. As longtime 5SOS fans, this one resonates the most as it carries the closest vibe to the band’s signature sound. We especially love the clever nod to “She Looks So Perfect” and Michael’s 5SOS roots with the lyric: ‘Guess I don’t see whatever she sees in me / Confidence doesn’t come so easily / When you’re the guy who caught fire with the coloured hair / From the band with the song about underwear.’ Overall, it’s an irresistibly catchy track that’s been on repeat for us since release.

“If He Wanted To He Would,” first released on August 22 ahead of Perrie’s debut album Perrie which released on September 26, is the perfect example of why she’s such an iconic and powerful artist. It’s an empowering anthem with a message as bold as its title, and the mix of sleek production with Perrie’s stunning vocals makes it so catchy and enjoyable. The track even channels the same confident, high-energy spirit as her song “Shout Out to My Ex” with Little Mix.

“Unconditional” is a track on JADE’s debut album *THAT’S SHOWBIZ BABY!,* released on September 12. While the whole album is beautiful, this song is one we kept replaying. JADE described it as “Donna Summer meets MGMT” (via Rolling Stone UK) and we completely understand it. The production blends the synths of mx MGMT’s “KIDS” with the disco vibes of Donna Summer’s “I Feel Love”. Even before hearing JADE’s own description, we instantly picked up on the 70s-inspired synth-disco vibe. It’s such a fun, infectious track, and this style fits JADE perfectly.

“Superscar” was first released on October 24 as a pre-release track leading up to ADÉLA’s debut EP The Provocateur, which dropped on August 22, 2025. Even though the track has been out for nearly a year, it really became a staple for us this past summer and we had it on repeat all through July, August and September. Co-written by our friend Liam Benayon, the song shines with vibrant energy and ADÉLA’s dynamic vocals, making it the perfect summer anthem. She gives shades of Tate McRae, but at the same time, no one else is doing it quite like ADÉLA.

“Did I Say Too Much” was first released on May 28, 2025, and we’ve been listening to it ever since. It nearly made our previous monthly mixtapes, but it wasn’t until September that it truly became one of our favorites from The Beaches’ discography. When their album No Hard Feelings dropped on August 29, this track resurfaced on repeat and hasn’t left our playlists since.

“Camera Lights” is a track from HAECHAN’s debut album *TASTE.* While we loved the entire project from start to finish, this is the track we kept coming back to. HAECHAN’s solo sound is a refreshing departure from his work with NCT 127, and this album really highlights his individuality and personal style.

We love this song so much as big fans of the indie-rock genre. The introduction and overall production instantly caught our attention and of course, Daniel Kim’s vocals take it to another level. Overall, it is such a catchy song.

This track has been stuck in our heads thanks to its addictive beat, catchy lyrics, and pure pop-girl vibes. We’ve been fans of oceanfromtheblue for a while and have been listening to Alyssa Reid since around 2014, so this collaboration was completely unexpected, but exactly what we didn’t know we needed. Additionally, oceanfromtheblue’s Korean lyrics add the perfect touch to an already beautiful song.

“Umbrella (10:00)” is a standout track from JUNHEE’s debut album The First Day & Night. We hadn’t listened to JUNHEE before this release, but we’re so glad we discovered the song through Spotify’s All New K-Pop playlist. It’s insanely catchy, especially the chorus with the line, “You only call me when the rain drops falling down.”

“Star Eyes,” track 9 on ZEROBASEONE’s latest album NEVER SAY NEVER, quickly became one of our favourites. As big fans of their music, this album was another one we truly enjoyed, and this song in particular stands out for its upbeat, youthful energy with a touch of magic. The rap verses add an extra layer of dynamism, making it a track we keep coming back to.

“JoyRide” is a track on CORTIS’ debut album COLOR OUTSIDE THE LINES, which cleverly doubles as the group’s acronym. The song’s intro instantly gives us One Direction vibes, and we love how rich and layered the production feels throughout. It has that perfect coming-of-age movie energy, making it the ideal soundtrack for late-night drives.
