mxmtoon BRINGS “liminal space" TOUR TO TORONTO WITH Katherine Li AS OPENER
BY BRENESSA ROACH | APRIL 2, 2025
On March 31, 2025, California-born artist maia, better known as mxmtoon (pronounced em-ex-em-toon), took the stage at The Danforth Music Hall in Toronto. This marked the 23rd stop on her 38-city world tour in support of her liminal space EP, released in November 2024. Local artist Katherine Li opened the night, setting the tone for a memorable evening. It was a fitting way to close out Women’s History Month, celebrating two exceptional female artists.
Katherine Li started the night off at 8PM playing her hit songs like “isn’t it obvious”, and “If I Weren’t Me”. She also surprised the audience with an unreleased song and a cover of Katy Perry’s “The One That Got Away” This was our third time seeing Katherine live, and with each performance, she continues to impress. We absolutely loved her set alongside her guitarist Cyrus and can’t wait to see more of Katherine’s performances in the future.
mxmtoon came on stage at 9PM, opening with “dramatic escape”. She performed her hit tracks like “prom dress,” “rain,” and our personal favourite, “mona lisa”. mxmtoon’s stage presence was captivating—her energy and interaction with the audience made the performance truly unforgettable. Her band was equally incredible, and the stage production added to the magic of the night.
We can’t wait for the chance to see mxmtoon perform again in the future.
A special thank you to Katherine Li and her team for providing us with a media pass.
