Welcome back to our “Beyond The Beat Spotlight” series! You may have noticed that we recently updated our company name from Behind The Beat to Beyond The Beat, so this series will now carry the new name going forward.

This month we’re thrilled to feature Toronto-based independent rapper and singer Tae Hauk.

Originally from Busan, Korea, Tae was adopted and raised in Kelowna, BC. Now residing in Toronto as a student, he uses his music to address systemic discrimination and political issues in the Western world. He debuted on October 15th, 2021, with the single “why don’t you come over?” and has since gained over 36K monthly listeners on Spotify. His September 2023 track, “THE PROBLEM”, went viral after he shared an Instagram reel in June, now reaching over 8 million views.

We’ve been following Tae’s journey since April 2023, when he had 4K monthly listeners, and it’s been incredible to watch his growth as he continues to voice issues that often go unspoken. Tae Hauk is truly empowering Gen Z with his music.

This month, we chose to spotlight Tae as he opened for Korean-Canadian artist JUNNY at his “Dopamine” tour in Toronto on November 1st. Watching Tae perform live for the first time, we were captivated by his stage presence and passion. Be sure to read our coverage of that concert!
