OutStation: INDIA’S NEW TEEN BOY BAND | SOUND SCOPE
BY BRENESSA ROACH | AUGUST 30, 2025

Sound Scope is a series spotlighting emerging artists who are redefining the global music scene. In this edition, we’re turning the spotlight on OutStation, India’s new teen boy band.
Though they’ve not officially debuted yet, OutStation came together earlier this year after nationwide auditions and a month-long training bootcamp in Goa. The group is managed by Visva Records in partnership with Republic Records and Universal Music India. Visva Records is the new venture of Savan Kotecha, the iconic Indian-American songwriter and producer behind hits for The Weeknd, One Direction, Ariana Grande, and most recently “Sapphire” by Ed Sheeran and Arijit Singh.
The five-member group features Bhuvan Shetty (22, Udupi), Hemang Singh (20, Prayagraj), Mashaal Shaikh (21, Goa), Kurien Sebastian (20, Delhi), and Shayan Pattem (17, Hyderabad). Their name, OutStation—a common Indianism referring to someone working outside their hometown—nods to the fact that most members hail from beyond Mumbai, India’s entertainment capital.
We’re excited for OutStation’s debut and believe they have the potential to go global while serving as role models for young South Asians aspiring to be artists. In the meantime, we’ve been loving the content they’ve been sharing on socials and can’t wait to see what they do next.
