The Rose RELEASES NEW ALBUM 'WRLD' IN PREPARATION FOR Tribeca Film Festival AND WORLD TOUR
BY BRENESSA ROACH | MAY 30, 2025

On Friday, May 30, South Korean alt-pop indie band The Rose (더 로즈) made their comeback after a year and a half with their new album WRLD, a seven-track collection released through Transparent Arts.
Following the album release, The Rose will premiere their documentary film The Rose: Come Back To Me at a sold-out screening during the Tribeca Film Festival on June 6. Shortly after, the band will embark on their “Once Upon a WRLD 2025” tour, bringing WRLD and their entire discography to a new level. The tour kicks off on June 9 in Zurich, Switzerland and ends in Seoul, South Korea, on August 30th.
The Rose is a four-member band consisting of Woosung (vocalist and guitarist), Dojoon (vocalist and multi-instrumentalist), Taegyeom (bassist), and Hajoon (drummer). The group made their debut on August 3, 2017, with the single “Sorry.”
Renowned for their electrifying performances, The Rose has quickly become one of Korea’s most sought-after bands, consistently releasing critically acclaimed albums that resonate with fans around the globe. In 2019, Dojoon, Taegyeom and Hajoon temporarily paused group activities to fulfill their mandatory military service, while Woosung (who is Korean-American) pursued a successful solo career—releasing an amazing album and embarking on sold-out world tours.
After completing their service, The Rose made a powerful return on October 7, 2022, with their first full-length album HEAL, followed by the ‘HEAL Together World Tour,’ which drew over 90,000 fans worldwide. Since then, the band has gone on to headline major global festivals, including Lollapalooza in Chicago in 2023 and Coachella in 2024.
Their second full-length album, DUAL, released on September 22, 2023, debuted on the Billboard 200 chart—marking a major milestone in their artistic journey.
With WRLD, The Rose continues to weave light and dark themes, blending their signature early sound with fresh sonic textures and genre explorations. The album introduces country-inspired melodies and introspective storytelling, delving into themes of coming of age and personal reflection—beautifully captured in tracks like “숨 (Breath)” and “Slowly.” Though we truly love every song, “Nebula” has captured our hearts with its dreamy sound and emotional depth.
This album goes beyond music, offering a heartfelt message of hope and comfort for a world longing to heal. It inspires listeners to cherish our common humanity and shows that by embracing dreams and love once more, a brighter tomorrow is within reach.
As long-time fans of The Rose since 2019, we’re beyond thrilled and honoured to cover this release. We had the unforgettable opportunity to photograph their Toronto show in 2023 during their DAWN TO DUSK tour, and we hope to continue supporting them—both as fans and as an organization. We’re incredibly proud of everything they’ve accomplished and wish them all the best for their Tribeca Film Festival debut and their upcoming tour.
