wave to earth BRINGS GOOD VIBES AND DEEP EMOTION TO TORONTO AT HISTORY

BY BRENESSA ROACH | OCTOBER 28, 2024

On October 27, 2024, South Korean indie rock band wave to earth took the stage at HISTORY in Toronto. This was the 24th stop on their sold-out “0.03 Tour,” which includes 26 cities. The band, made up of Daniel Kim (guitarist and vocalist), John Cha (bassist) and Donggyu (drummer)had previously performed in Toronto last year and were thrilled to return for another sold-out show with additional support from Cho Jung-geun (keyboardist), and Jeon Min (saxophonist and guitarist).

Fans began lining up as early as 2 p.m., with lines stretching around the entire venue.

The show kicked off at 8:00 PM with Milena, a South Korean soloist under the same label as wave to earth, called “WAVY.” She graced the stage with her beautiful vocals and bubbly smile, performing her latest track “why do we fall in love?” and even performed “No Jam”, “Oh Rosy” and “Older than you” from her Foggy EP which released earlier this year. We also enjoyed her performance of her song “Letter”.

We really loved Milena’s vibes and performance and we hope we can see her live again one day.

After a quick five-minute set change, wave to earth took the stage at 8:30 PM, opening with “are you bored?” from their latest album play with earth! 0.03. As longtime fans, seeing them perform live was a dream come true. Their onstage (and offstage) chemistry was electric, with Daniel Kim’s emotive vocals and heartfelt lyrics igniting the crowd’s emotions, while Jeon Min’s saxophone added a unique and captivating touch.

Wave to Earth performed all the tracks from their newest EP, including “play with earth!,” “beck.,” “slow dive,” “holyland,” “pueblo (remastered 2024),” and the crowd-favourite “annie.,” with an epic build up to it. They also played classics like “homesick,” “love.,” “bad,” “peach eyes,” and “pink” from their debut album 0.1 flaws and all which released in 2023.

Each cities setlist was a little bit different and Toronto got lucky to have a performance of “light”. We also got to see them perform their debut single “wave” which came out in 2019. For the encore, they performed their hit single “seasons”, a fan-favourite with over 300 million streams since its release in 2020, making for a beautiful ending to an unforgettable night.

We already miss them and can’t wait for their next visit!

Special thanks to Live Nation and Kohai for the media pass and the opportunity to review and photograph this incredible concert.
