CELEBRATING WOMEN’S HISTORY MONTH WITH BEYOND THE BEAT

In honour of Women’s History Month, we want to share eight amazing and talented independent female artists who we think deserve more listeners. Each and every one of these artists are unique and have such different sounds.
Bella Dose is the world’s first bilingual Latin girl-group bringing in Latin flavours from Cuba, Honduras, Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, Colombia and Chile. . The group consists of Melany, Brianna, Thais and Jenni—who all dance and sing and write in English and Spanish. The group debuted on February 8, 2018 with the single “Comfortable”. Since their debut, they have gained over 25.1K monthly listeners on Spotify.
In January 2021, they released the single “Suelta” which was a pre-release track for their debut album Suelta which came out on on February 19, 2021. This album includes their most popular track “Si Mi Llamas” which has over 3.8 million streams and is the track we discovered them by.
In September 2023, they released their sophomore album *L-Pop.* Their latest release unfortunately is from March 29, 2024 for the single “Agua”. Though it’s been almost a year, we are hopeful that they will release a song soon as we just got into their music.

ash angel is a Filipina-Singaporean singer and songwriter based in Vancouver Canada. Her music falls under the contemporary R&B and alternative indie genre. She made her debut on August 11, 2023 with the single “slowly drifting”. Since her debut, she has released two more singles; “every universe” in August 2024 and “eternal serenity” in November. She currently has around 154 monthly listeners and just released the single “wantitbad!” with LaynoProd on March 14.

Lisa Heller is an Alternative-Indie/Pop singer and songwriter from a small town in Connecticut. She currently has 41.6K monthly listeners and made her debut on June 24, 2016 with the single “hope”. Lisa Heller has been very active since her debut, releasing a bunch of singles and EPs. We discovered her this year after the release of her single “people pleaser” on January 24, which we really love. Her latest single “THIS IS THE END” released on February 27. We cannot wait to hear what else she will release this year.

Trisha Cruzada is a Filipina R&B and alternative singer and songwriter from Toronto who debuted in November 2019 with the single “guardian angel”. Since her debut, she has released only one song a year, but we think her most recent song “naturally”, released on February 14 is her best song.
We recently discovered Trisha after she submitted to our blog. She has around 3.4K monthly listeners and we are very excited to hear what she will release this year,
Chiara Savasta is a pop singer and songwriter from Montreal, Canada with over 34.6K monthly listeners on Spotify. She made her debut on September 14, 2020 with the single “When Girls Love”. She did not release any music in 2021 and came back in November 2022 with her debut EP Summerhood, pt. 1.
Her latest release is her third EP brand new girl, brand new machine which came out on November 29, 2024. We recently discovered Chiara because she is opening for Devon Cole—another pop artist we like.
Audrey Huynh is a pop and alternative singer, songwriter and also an actress who recently starred in Xo, Kitty season 2. Audrey made her debut as a singer on July 3, 2023 with the single “jinx”. Followed by her debut, she released “up for debate” in February 2024 and “apartment complex” in August 2024. “apartment complex” was a pre-release track for her debut EP lovesick which came out on February 14. This EP is a no-skip one for us and we absolutely love it—especially the song “you miss it, too”.
So so excited for Audrey’s future releases.
Benita is a Toronto based singer and songwriter with around 27.5K monthly listeners on Spotify. She made her debut on December 7, 2018 with the single “Anything”. We first discovered Benita in 2022 because of her song “No Good” which released in October 2019. We also really liked her singles “Pretty” and “Toxic” which was included in her debut album SCARLET, released on March 10, 2022.
We rediscovered Benita this year after hearing her song “bbg” which was included on her sophomore album SAPPHIRE which came out on January 30. We really love her vibe and have followed now to continue to hear her new releases.
neemz is a singer and songwriter from Toronto, Canada with around 1.8K monthly listeners on Spotify. She made her debut on November 16, 2022 with the single “fastlane”. She released her debut EP nascent on December 25, 2023 which is how we discovered her.
In 2024, she didn’t release any music, but came back on February 14, 2025 with the single “LOVEBUG” which is her best song yet. This song is such an improvement from her debut and we cannot wait to see her growth.
