24 SONGS WE LOVED IN 2024

2024 was such an amazing music year for us, so many new releases, concerts and growth all around at Beyond The Beat. It was honestly hard to choose our top 24 songs and also order them, but we managed to do it.

In this article, we will share our top 24 songs of 2024. As well, in case you missed it, we posted our article for our best no skip EPs/albums of 2024 last week.

Zack Tabudlo - 24 SONGS WE LOVED IN 2024

Released on: January 12, 2024

We kicked off 2024 off with the release of “Pulso” by one of our favourite artists, Zack Tabudlo. Zack, a talented Filipino artist, is known for crafting love songs that make you feel kilig (butterflies in your stomach). “Pulso” is a beautiful indie-R&B track infused with rock elements, featuring heartfelt lyrics in Tagalog.

Released on: July 3, 2024

CIRCLES!” is a collaboration between Toronto artists Caj Flow and Ashavari–who also happen to be good friends of ours. This song is easily our favourite release from both artists. It leans heavily into the punk-rock genre, delivering a nostalgic vibe that hits. The balance between Caj Flow’s and Ashavari’s vocals is incredible, making the song even more cpativating. This track was also featured in our July MONTHLY MIXTAPE blog.

YAØ - 24 SONGS WE LOVED IN 2024

All My Life” has quickly become our favourite YAØ song, staying stuck in our heads since its release. It’s a city-pop/indie pop infused song, which delivers a nostalgic vibel. We also featured this song in our September MONTHLY MIXTAPE blog.

KEY - 24 SONGS WE LOVED IN 2024

Released on: September 23, 2024

Novacaine” is a track from KEY’s 3rd EP Pleasure Shop—and honestly, the only song we truly loved from the EP. As soon as we heard this song, it got stuck in our heads. This English pop song blends retro and techno elements beautifully.

When we first heard it, we immediately thought it sounded like something Lauv would create, and to our surprise, Lauv actually co-wrote the song. We also featured this song in our October MONTHLY MIXTAPE blog.

This is, without a doubt, our favourite KEY track to date.

ILLIT - 24 SONGS WE LOVED IN 2024

Released on: March 25, 2024

Magnetic” is a track from ILLIT’s debut EP, *SUPER REAL ME.* The group formed late last year after winning the survival show R U Next? organized by JTBC and Belift Lab. While we loved every song on the EP, this track caught our attention with its catchy beat and the viral dance that took over TikTok when the EP dropped.

This song is so vibrant, fun, and youthful, and we’re loving the wave of new girl groups in K-pop.

MICO - 24 SONGS WE LOVED IN 2024

If you’ve been following Beyond The Beat from the beginning, you might remember that MICO was one of the first artists we featured in our “23 Canadian artists to listen to in 2023” blog. We’ve been fans of his for over 3 years now, and it’s been incredible to witness his growth. “HOMESICK” is just one of the many tracks MICO released this year, and while we loved all of them, this one has been on repeat for us. It was even featured in our June MONTHLY MIXTAPE blog.

The song’s infectious rock-inspired beat paired with MICO’s lyrics just hit. We also had the honour to see it live during his hometown Toronto show back in November—a truly unforgettable moment!

Valley - 24 SONGS WE LOVED IN 2024

Released on: June 7, 2024

This year, we started diving deeper into Valley’s discography, and we’re so glad we did! Our first introduction to them was back in 2022 with the release of their album Last Birthday (The After Party), and we were obsessed with the track “Like 1999”. Fast forward to this year, their song “Water the Flowers, Pray for a Garden” reignited our love for their music. This track was a pre-release track for their album of the same name, a stunning collection of songs.

“Water the Flowers, Pray for a Garden” is the perfect indie-pop anthem, perfect for summertime—or any time you want to feel those summer vibes.

We also had the incredible opportunity to interview Valley back in September about their album. This track was also featured in our September MONTHLY MIXTAPE blog.

UMI - 24 SONGS WE LOVED IN 2024

Released on: December 30, 2023

This song may have been released just two days before 2024, but we constantly had it on repeat throughout the year of 2024—and even landed a spot in our top 100 songs on Spotify’s 2024 Wrapped. The collaboration between UMI and V of BTS was unexpected, but made perfect sense once we heard it. UMI’s sweet, delicate vocals paired with V’s warm, honey-like tone created an absolutely stunning track.

With heartfelt and romantic lyrics, this chill R&B song became a calming song that got us through the cold winter months.

elijah woods - 24 SONGS WE LOVED IN 2024

Released on: July 12, 2024

elijah woods is another artist we’ve been following since his debut, and we love nearly all of his songs. This year, he released “2 thousand 10”, a track we couldn’t get out of our heads. This track is a nostalgic pop song infused with early 2000s rock influences that takes listeners on a heartfelt journey back to the simplicity and freedom of childhood, perfectly capturing those carefree days.

We even did a press coverage for this release back in July. This track also made its way onto our July MONTHLY MIXTAPE blog. To top it all off, we had the chance to experience “2 thousand 10” live during elijah woods’ free performance Toronto’s Union Station.

Ariana Grande - 24 SONGS WE LOVED IN 2024

Released on: March 8, 2024

Just like everyone else, we had “we can’t be friends (wait for your love)” on repeat from the moment it was released. This track from Ariana Grande’s album eternal sunshine, became one of our go-to songs this year. Ariana’s ability to capture raw emotion through her music shines in this track—it’s heartfelt, emotional, and simply beautiful. The lyrics pull at your heartstrings, and her stunning vocals make the song absolutely unforgettable.

Dept - 24 SONGS WE LOVED IN 2024

“Strawberry Champagne” has quickly become one of our all-time favourite songs from Dept. This song , in the indie-rock genre, marks a shift from Dept’s usual R&B sound, and we need more songs like it. This track has a calming vibe, with beautiful lyrics. Additionally, it was also featured in our May MONTHLY MIXTAPE blog.

j-hope - 24 SONGS WE LOVED IN 2024

i wonder…” is a track on j-hope’s EP HOPE ON THE STREET VOL.1 which we also featured in our “BEST NO SKIP EPS/ALBUMS OF 2024” blog last week. We absolutely love this track as it perfectly blends dance, hip-hop, and modern pop, showcasing j-hope’s versatility as an artist.

Additionally, the combination of j-hope and Jung Kook’s vocals is pure magic—they’ve always had incredible synergy, even on their songs as BTS members.

NCT DREAM - 24 SONGS WE LOVED IN 2024

Released on: March 25, 2024

Breathing” is one of our new favourite tracks from NCT DREAM. We always appreciate it when they release slower, ballad-style songs with heartfelt lyrics, and this one does not disappoint. The calming atmosphere paired with the beautiful piano production creates an emotional and soothing listening experience.

Each member’s vocals shine incredibly well in this style of song, making it a standout release for us this year!

10CM - 24 SONGS WE LOVED IN 2024

Released on: May 14, 2024

“Spring Snow” is an original soundtrack from the Korean drama Lovely Runner. We actually heard this song before watching the K-drama, and we instantly fell in love with its sweet and tender tones. True to its name, his track feels like the perfect companion for a beautiful spring snowfall.

This beautiful song is filled with heartfelt lyrics and 10CM’s signature emotive delivery makes this ballad standout. We’ve always adored 10CM’s ability to capture emotions so beautifully, especially in slow, ballad-style songs like this one!

IU - 24 SONGS WE LOVED IN 2024

We started 2024 off with a release from our favourite singer, IU. “Love wins all” is a stunning ballad showcasing IU’s signature style and powerful, emotive vocals. The heartfelt lyrics beautifully express how love has the power to bring people together, even in times of hatred and difficulty.

semmi - 24 SONGS WE LOVED IN 2024

Released on: August 16, 2024

armageddon” is the debut track from our good friend, semmi. This pop-punk ballad dives deep into the tough emotions of falling out of love in a painful and harmful way. Back in August, we had the opportunity to interview semmi about this song. Through “armageddon,” he emphasized themes of self-resilience and embracing your own strengths, even in the aftermath of heartbreak.

This track is easily our favourite from Semmi so far, and we’re beyond excited to hear what he has in store for us in 2025!

figure8” is a track from JUNNY’s EP *dopamine,* making his first release after a two-year hiatus. This heartfelt ballad is different from his signature R&B style. It’s a song that showcase his vocals and deep emotions

We had the honour of experiencing this song live during JUNNY’s dopamine tour stop in Toronto and it was just as beautiful live as on the EP. Additionally, we also featured this song in our June MONTHLY MIXTAPE blog.

WOOSUNG - 24 SONGS WE LOVED IN 2024

Day That I Died” is a heartfelt ballad where WOOSUNG reflects on hope and healing through sorrow. This beautiful song is different from WOOSUNG’s typical indie-rock style as a member of The Rose. This song highlights WOOSUNG’s impressive vocal range and emotionally resonant lyrics.

We absolutely love this track and how it beautifully showcases a different side of his artistry.

APT.” is a surprising yet perfect collaboration between ROSÉ of BLACKPINK and Bruno Mars—one we didn’t know we needed. This upbeat and danceable track revolves around the Korean drinking game of the same name. Ever since its release, it’s been stuck in our heads, and we can’t help but sing and dance along every time it plays.

worst days” is a standout track on PRYVT’s debut album &SCENE, which we featured in our “BEST NO SKIP EPS/ALBUMS OF 2024” blog.This indie-rock song captivated us with its heartfelt lyrics and overall atmospheric vibe. It’s definitely one of our favourite tracks from PRYVT’s debut album!

HISTORY” is an indie-rock gem released by BNZA this year, marking a departure from his usual R&B style. This track not only showcases his versatility, but also inspired him to explore more indie-rock songs under his new artist name, ben seasons. The atmospheric vibe and heartfelt lyrics make “HISTORY” a standout track, and we couldn’t be more excited to see where this new direction takes him!

NCT 127’s “Gas” from their sixth album WALK is an energetic and fun hip-hop track that’s impossible to resist. Its catchy beat and dynamic lyrics create a perfect vibe for dancing and having fun. We loved it so much that it earned a spot in our July MONTHLY MIXTAPE blog!

JAEHYUN - 24 SONGS WE LOVED IN 2024

Released on: August 26, 2024

This year, JAEHYUN was our top artist with his album J – The 1st Album earning the title of our number one no-skip album of the year. From start to finish, the album was an absolute masterpiece, but “Completely” stood out for us. Its beautiful piano-ballad production paired with heartfelt, romantic lyrics makes it such a sweet and unforgettable track which we can’t stop listening to.

“annie.” is our favourite track on wave to earth’s latest album play with earth! 0.03, which we also featured in our “BEST NO SKIP EPS/ALBUMS OF 2024” blog. The song’s title, meaning “no” in Korean, delivers a powerful message about rejecting societal norms. With Daniel Kim’s angsty lyrics and the song’s catchy rhythm, it’s a track that stays with you long after listening.
